What is with all the Earth stuff?
Those outside of the disc golf community commonly see areas of forest or field or seasonal use, like ski hills, undergo a transformation and become a disc golf course. Trees go away, habitat for pollinators gets cut, and suddenly concrete slabs and strange metal baskets pop up. This can create a negative appearance about what disc golf courses are and how they can actually help improve nature!
While the untamed wild our planet offers is one of my favorite things about it, it can also be damaging. Areas with dense tree populations will reduce the amount sunlight that reaches the ground creating a barren wasteland that discourages wildlife. Thinning these trees lets this light reach the ground and allows native vegetation to grow again! This vegetation then attracts wildlife and encourages habitat to be formed. When on the disc golf course next count the number of critters you spot. I am willing to bet the number is higher than you think!
I want to be clear, I am not saying every forest needs to be turned into a disc golf course, but there is a balance. Local clubs, townships, cities, organizations, or even individuals will commonly "adopt" a disc golf course. As part of this those people will now manage and care for the course. Clean up days, course improvements, layout changes, and many other things become a priority for these people and the course becomes better for it.
Now, why Climate Disc Golf and why The Climates? Connecting a disc golf brand to aspects of our Earth isn't new. It helps bring attention to things that otherwise get forgotten. But attaching each of Earths climates to a disc category visibility and awareness is inherently created. Maybe you weren't aware of the climate types so you go look them up. Maybe you disagree with a connection we have made so you comment on a post. Whatever it is this interaction helps!
Recognizing that to create a disc golf course the most common change is removing trees we at Climate Disc Golf want to help plant more! This is were our commitment and promise comes in. We will take $1 from every disc sold and donate to TeamTrees. Why $1? Well each single dollar plants a new tree somewhere in the world. So every disc sold equals a new tree! This is our way to help offset the removal of trees to create courses.
